Alexandrite
Laser Hair Removal

Alexandrite Laser Hair Removal at Evolution Aesthetics uses the Smartrion Alexandrite Laser (755 nm) to reduce unwanted hair on the face and body. The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle, which means quick, focused treatments with less regrowth over time. Sessions are fast, with most areas done in minutes, and no downtime. We treat common areas such as upper lip, chin, full face, underarms, bikini line, full legs, back, abdomen, arms, and more, for both women and men. Best results are seen on lighter skin with dark hair; our team will guide settings or suggest alternatives for other skin types. Expect steady thinning after each visit and smoother skin between sessions.
Faster sessions, longer-lasting reduction, and precise melanin targeting
High precision on dark hair
The 755 nm Alexandrite wavelength is strongly absorbed by melanin, focusing energy into the follicle for targeted results.
Fast coverage for large or small areas
Large spot sizes and rapid pulse rates keep appointment times short, even for legs or back.
More comfortable with cooling
Integrated skin cooling helps reduce heat sensation during each pulse.
Long-lasting hair reduction
By treating follicles in their growth phase, hair returns finer and slower over the course of a plan.
Visible changes early
Many people notice slower regrowth and fewer ingrowns after the first 1–2 sessions.
Non-invasive, no downtime
No cuts or needles, and you can return to normal activities right after the visit.
755 nm melanin targeting for efficient follicle treatment
Alexandrite Laser Hair Removal works through selective photothermolysis. The Smartrion Alexandrite Laser emits light at 755 nm, a wavelength that is strongly absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and follicle. This light converts to heat inside the follicle and disables the structures responsible for regrowth while the surrounding skin is cooled during each pulse. Hair grows in cycles; the laser is most effective during the active growth (anagen) phase, which is why several sessions are needed. The system allows adjustments in energy, pulse duration, and spot size to fit the area and hair thickness. Alexandrite is typically most effective on lighter skin tones with dark hair; for darker skin tones, we may choose more conservative settings or recommend alternative laser wavelengths to prioritise pigment selectivity. Very light, red, or grey hair has little melanin and may respond poorly.Contraindications
Please share your medical history, skin concerns, and current medications with us before treatment. We may delay or adjust treatment when any of the following apply:
- Recent sunburn, active tan, or self‑tanner on the area (within 2–4 weeks)
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active skin infection, open wounds, or cold sores in the area
- Use of isotretinoin in the last 6–12 months
- Use of photosensitizing drugs or herbs (e.g., doxycycline, minocycline, St John’s wort) not cleared by a clinician
- Epilepsy triggered by light
- History of keloid scarring or very poor wound healing
- Suspicious skin lesions or history of skin cancer in the treatment area
- Active eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis flare on the area
- Tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment field

Predictable schedule: 6–8 sessions, quick visits, low upkeep
Most people need 6–8 sessions for body areas and 8–10 for facial areas, because facial hair cycles are shorter. Visits are spaced about 4 weeks apart for the face and 6–8 weeks for body areas like legs, back, and abdomen. Small zones such as upper lip or underarms take around 10–15 minutes; larger areas like full legs or back usually take 30–45 minutes. Before treatment: avoid sun exposure and self‑tanner for 2–4 weeks; stop waxing, plucking, or threading for 4 weeks (shaving is fine); shave the area 12–24 hours before your appointment; avoid retinoids and strong acids on the area for 3–5 days; do not apply heavy perfumes or oils on the day. After treatment: cool the area if needed; use a gentle, fragrance‑free moisturizer; avoid hot baths, saunas, and gym for 24 hours; skip exfoliation for 3–5 days; protect the area with SPF 30+ and avoid sun exposure for 1–2 weeks; shave only (no waxing or plucking) between sessions. Expect gradual thinning after each visit; hair that returns is usually softer and lighter. Many people choose 1–2 maintenance sessions per year if needed. Very light, red, or grey hair may not respond well; we will advise on alternatives. - Specialist Dermatologist Consultation with 3D Skin TestStart with a detailed skin and hair assessment to set the right laser settings and session plan. It helps match your Fitzpatrick type, hair thickness, and growth cycles, and checks medications or conditions that may affect treatment. This improves clearance per visit and reduces downtime.
- LED TherapyBlue/red LED 24–72 hours after a laser session calms redness and warmth and supports skin recovery. It also helps keep follicles clear, which lowers the chance of bumps and ingrowns between visits.
- Hydrafacial for Face or BackGentle exfoliation and vacuum extraction remove buildup so the laser reaches follicles more effectively. Schedule 3–5 days before Alexandrite for better penetration, or 7–10 days after to prevent ingrowns and rough texture.
- IPL Hyperpigmentation Laser RemovalIf dark patches remain from past shaving or ingrowns, targeted IPL helps even out tone. Plan it between hair removal sessions on fully recovered skin to brighten areas like the face or underarms for a more uniform result.
- Hyperhydrosis ReductionReducing underarm sweating lowers moisture and friction, which can decrease irritation after hair removal. It also helps limit odor and ingrowns; consider it after your first 1–2 sessions for longer-lasting comfort.
