Dissolving
Filler Dissolving uses hyaluronidase to reduce or remove unwanted hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. It can help when filler looks overfilled, uneven, lumpy, or displaced, or when you want to reverse an earlier result. A doctor first confirms the filler type and examines the area. The treatment does not reliably dissolve non-HA or permanent fillers. The amount of correction and the number of sessions depend on the product, its location, and your treatment goal.
How it works
How hyaluronidase dissolves HA filler
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. A doctor injects it into or around the unwanted HA filler. The enzyme changes the HA gel so the body can clear it.
The response is not identical for every filler. Product type, filler density, amount, age, and injection depth can change how much enzyme is needed. Some areas need more than one session. Swelling can hide the early result, so the doctor assesses the final correction after the tissue settles.
Hyaluronidase does not reliably dissolve calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, silicone, PMMA, or other non-HA and permanent fillers. If the product is unknown, bring the treatment record or product label if you have it. The doctor can then decide whether examination, imaging, or referral is necessary.

Treatment plan
Assessment first, then a precise treatment plan
The visit starts with a medical assessment. Tell the doctor when and where you had filler, which product was used, and what you want to change. The doctor checks whether the concern is excess HA filler, swelling, inflammation, infection, a nodule, or another problem. These conditions do not have the same treatment.
If hyaluronidase is suitable, the doctor places small injections in the planned area. The treatment itself is usually brief. You can feel stinging or tenderness. Redness, swelling, bruising, itching, or temporary loss of volume can occur. A rare allergic reaction can be serious. The clinic will explain the risks and the response plan before treatment.
Do not press or massage the area unless the doctor tells you to do so. For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, intense heat, and alcohol. Follow the doctor's instructions for skin care and make-up. A review is usually planned after 1 to 2 weeks. More than one session can be necessary. Do not arrange new filler until the doctor confirms that the area has settled.
Severe or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, a cold area of skin, or any visual change after a recent filler injection can be an emergency. Contact the treating clinic or emergency service at once. Do not wait for a routine filler-dissolving appointment.

When treatment must be delayed or needs special review
Hyaluronidase is a prescription treatment. The doctor must review your medical history, the filler product, and the condition of the treatment area before use.
- Known allergy or previous serious reaction to hyaluronidase or one of its ingredients.
- Active infection or acute inflammation in or near the planned treatment area.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Elective treatment is usually delayed because safety data are limited.
- A history of severe allergy or anaphylaxis, including a serious reaction to bee or wasp stings, requires specific medical review.
- Unknown, non-HA, or permanent filler in the area. Hyaluronidase may not work, and another assessment may be necessary.
- Medicines or medical conditions that affect bleeding, healing, immunity, or allergic reactions must be discussed with the doctor. Do not stop prescribed medicine without advice from the prescribing doctor.
What may come after filler dissolving?
