The product

Jalupro Classic is made by Professional Derma SA in Lugano, Switzerland. A pack contains two vials of freeze-dried amino acids (glycine, L-proline, L-leucine and L-lysine) and two vials each holding 30 mg of sodium hyaluronate. The hyaluronic acid is non-crosslinked and of low molecular weight; the brand describes its role as the carrier that transports the amino acids into the skin. The listed indications are biorevitalisation, stretch marks, preparation for and extension of other aesthetic treatments, and photo-ageing of the face and body.

The product information specifies the technique: intradermal injection of superficial papules with a 30G needle, papules 1.5 to 2 cm apart, with a local anaesthetic cream recommended beforehand. That is the technique our doctors follow.

Why amino acids

Collagen is built from repeating triplets in which every third residue is glycine, with proline and hydroxyproline filling most of the other positions; lysine residues form the cross-links that give mature collagen its strength. Jalupro's cluster supplies these residues plus leucine to the fibroblasts that make collagen and elastin. Whether injected amino acids raise collagen production in the skin more than the injection itself does has not been shown for Classic in a controlled trial; the biochemistry explains the design, not the size of the result.

What the evidence shows

We found no published clinical trial of Jalupro Classic. The brand's published study covers Jalupro Super Hydro, a different product with 80 mg of hybrid hyaluronic acid, seven amino acids and three peptides: 28 women received four monthly subdermal injections and showed hydration 25.9 percent higher at 30 days and 15.9 percent higher at 120 days, with collagen density on ultrasound up about 20 percent and three transient bruises as the only side effects. That result cannot be transferred to Classic.

For the amino acid and hyaluronic acid class, a study of 40 adults given three intradermal sessions two weeks apart measured hydration and viscoelasticity 11 to 12 percent higher and skin density 23 percent higher at day 42, with no adverse events but no control group. For stretch marks, an observational study of 32 patients treated four times over six months with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and six amino acids reported improvement on a global aesthetic scale. Both are small and uncontrolled, so we present them as the reason the treatment is plausible, not as your expected outcome.

Face, body, scars and stretch marks

The Classic product page lists the face, neck and décolleté among its injection sites; the brand's current website positions Classic for body areas, scars and hair and presents HMW as its face product. We offer Classic. At consultation we tell you honestly whether it fits the area and concern you bring, or whether another booster we stock, such as NCTF for dull, uneven facial tone or Novacutan BioPro for persistent hydration, is the better match.

A typical course

The distributor's protocol is three to four sessions ten to fourteen days apart, then a maintenance session about every six months. Non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid is cleared within days, which is why the sessions sit close together. Our doctors book each session after checking how the previous one settled, and the maintenance decision is made at review, not in advance.

Jalupro Classic or a multi-ingredient cocktail

NCTF combines hyaluronic acid with a broad mix of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, coenzymes and antioxidants, and the Monaco Cocktail adds vitamins, peptides and antioxidants to its hyaluronic acid. Jalupro Classic is narrower: four amino acids and hyaluronic acid, nothing else. We choose Jalupro when the goal is collagen-building support for thin or crepey skin, scars or stretch marks, and a cocktail booster when dullness and uneven tone on the face are the main complaint.

Jalupro Classic or a persistent hyaluronic acid booster

Novacutan BioPro and Restylane Skinboosters use cross-linked hyaluronic acid at 20 mg/ml that stays in the dermis for months; Profhilo delivers 64 mg of hybrid hyaluronic acid from ten injection points. Jalupro's hyaluronic acid is non-crosslinked and clears within days, so its effect rests on the amino acids and on the skin's response to the injections rather than on lasting water binding. Jalupro Classic or a polynucleotide booster

Plinest and Rejuran Healer contain polynucleotides from salmon DNA and are used for repair, thin under-eye skin and acne-scarred skin. They contain no hyaluronic acid or amino acids. Mesoten Aqualight pairs hyaluronic acid with succinic acid and peptides for hydration and radiance.

Jalupro Classic with other treatments

The brand describes Classic as a preparation for and extension of other aesthetic treatments and mentions combination with platelet-rich plasma. We assess combinations individually: a PRP facial, microneedling or a peel in the same area needs spacing so that each treatment's effect and any reaction can be judged on its own.

Before your appointment

Bring your skincare product list so we can confirm what to pause and when to restart. Do not stop prescribed treatment without your prescriber’s advice.

Bring details of previous injectables and treatments in the same area: the products, dates and any reactions. Tell us about all medicines and supplements, especially those that affect bleeding: warfarin and other anticoagulants, aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, St John's wort, garlic and ginger supplements. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own; we assess bruising risk and coordinate with your prescriber if a medical decision is needed.

Let us know about pregnancy, breastfeeding, allergies, a history of cold sores, recent illness, sunburn, and any laser, peel or microneedling in the last few weeks. We use this to decide whether treatment goes ahead, waits or is replaced by another option.

On the day

Come with clean skin if you can. We cleanse the area and, if you wish, apply a numbing cream before the injections, as the product information recommends. The session ends with written aftercare and the date of your next review.

After treatment

Keep the injection points clean and do not rub or massage the area unless your doctor tells you to. Leave makeup off the face until the papules have settled and the injection points have closed, usually by the next day. Follow the timing in your written aftercare for exercise, sauna, steam and swimming; heat, sweating and pressure on fresh injection points increase swelling and bruising, and pool or sea water raises the risk of infection while the points are open. Protect treated skin from the sun and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, because inflamed injection points can darken with sun exposure. Restart acid exfoliants when the skin has settled, as advised.

Papules usually flatten within hours and redness within a day or two; bruises take longer. Contact us if any symptom worsens instead of settling.

Review and repeat treatment

Common effects

The technique deliberately raises small papules in the skin; these, with redness, tenderness, mild swelling and itching at the injection points, are expected and settle within hours to days. Bruising is common, particularly on thin skin or if you take medicines that affect clotting.

Less common effects

Infection, an allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid or an amino acid, persistent lumps or nodules, and darkening of the skin at the injection points can occur. A cold sore can be reactivated by injections around the mouth. Tell us promptly about persistent or worsening symptoms; do not treat them with another cosmetic treatment elsewhere without medical review.

When to get immediate help

Any facial injection carries a small risk of product entering a blood vessel. Get immediate medical help for unusual or severe pain, skin near the injection site turning white, grey or blue, any change in vision, or signs of a stroke such as sudden weakness, numbness, face drooping or difficulty speaking. Difficulty breathing or swelling of the tongue or throat needs emergency care. Do not wait for a routine clinic reply.

When treatment may be unsuitable

We do not inject through an active infection, open skin or uncontrolled inflammation in the treatment area, and we do not use a product you are known to be allergic to or that contains an ingredient you have reacted to. A health condition or medicine that requires the treating doctor to change or postpone the plan is discussed before any injection.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: the safety of injectable skin boosters has not been established, so we postpone. Bleeding disorders and anticoagulant treatment, an autoimmune disease in active flare, a history of keloid scarring, severe active acne or dermatitis in the area, recent sunburn, and a deep peel or ablative laser that has not fully healed all need review and may mean waiting. Licensing and authentic supply are important standards, but they do not remove treatment risks.
