What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides, or PN, are chains of DNA building blocks. Rejuran uses purified salmon-derived material in an injectable gel. The terms “salmon DNA treatment” and “skin booster” describe this treatment in everyday language; they do not mean it contains living cells.

What does the research show?

A small randomised study of 27 people compared polynucleotides with non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid around the eyes. Both groups improved on appearance ratings, without a significant difference between them. Some measured changes in hydration, elasticity and roughness favoured PN. This supports discussing a possible skin-quality benefit, not promising rejuvenation or saying Rejuran is better for everyone.

Fine lines, pores and acne scars

Fine lines and surface roughness are different from deep creases, active acne or tethered acne scars. A smoother-looking surface does not mean pores have disappeared or a scar has been removed.

Small studies of polynucleotides for acne scars are encouraging, but products and techniques differ. Results for another PN formulation cannot automatically be applied to Rejuran Healer. We examine the scar pattern and active breakouts before discussing whether an injectable belongs in a wider treatment plan.

Under-eye concerns

Fine, crepey skin, pigmentation, puffiness and a hollow can all make the eye area look tired. We assess them separately. Improving skin texture does not remove an eye bag or necessarily correct the shadow below it. The area needs careful product selection and injection technique.

Rejuran Healer and other Rejuran products

Rejuran is a product family. Healer, i, S and HB formulations should not be treated as interchangeable names. This page covers the Rejuran Healer service we offer; we confirm the exact product before you consent.

Rejuran versus hyaluronic acid skin boosters

PN and hyaluronic acid are different materials. Hyaluronic acid binds water; injectable formulations vary in how they are used for hydration or volume. Choosing between treatments means comparing the exact products, your skin concern, the evidence and the risks—not assuming every “skin booster” does the same job.

Rejuran versus volumising filler

Volumising fillers address selected hollows or contours. Rejuran is considered for skin quality. More injections are not automatically a better plan; sometimes skin care or a different treatment is more appropriate.

Before your appointment

Tell us about all previous injectables, including the product, area and date, as well as lasers, peels or other recent treatments. Bring a list of medicines and supplements. Do not stop prescribed treatment to prepare for a cosmetic appointment.

Let us know if you have an event or travel planned. We can discuss whether there is enough time for treatment and review, but cannot promise that marks will be gone by a particular day.

After your appointment

Follow the written instructions we give you for the product and treated area. The manufacturer advises avoiding makeup for 12 hours and prolonged sun, UV, extreme cold or heat exposure for two weeks. Discuss swimming, exercise, facials and other treatments with your doctor before resuming them.

Keep follow-up arrangements even if the skin looks better early on. Tell us about new or persistent lumps, colour changes or increasing discomfort. Do not book another injectable to correct a reaction before it has been examined.

Reviewing your course

We review the skin after the early injection effects have settled. Tell us what has improved and what still concerns you. Further sessions depend on your response and suitability, rather than an automatic commitment to ongoing injections.

When treatment should wait

We do not offer cosmetic Rejuran treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or inject through infected or inflamed skin. Known ingredient allergy rules out treatment. Tell us about autoimmune disease, immune-suppressing treatment, bleeding problems, blood thinners and recent or permanent fillers so we can assess contraindications.

Side effects and urgent symptoms

Possible effects include pain, itching, redness, swelling, bruising, lumps and colour changes. Infection and allergic reactions can occur. Accidental injection into a blood vessel can damage tissue. A small study reporting no serious adverse events does not rule out uncommon complications.

Get urgent medical attention for severe or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, or any change in vision after a facial injection. Breathing difficulty, throat swelling or collapse needs emergency help; do not wait for a routine WhatsApp reply.
