Dark Lips
Laser Neutralization

Dark Lips Laser Neutralization lightens and evens lip color without needles or tattoo pigments. At Evolution Aesthetics, we use the ClearLift by Alma laser, which targets excess melanin gently while keeping the lip surface intact. It works well for smoker’s lips, post-inflammatory darkening, or naturally uneven tone. Sessions are quick, with little to no downtime and minimal warmth or tingling. Results build gradually over several visits, giving a natural-looking, softer pink tone. We offer the Dark Lips Laser Neutralization ClearLift version for precise, consistent outcomes.

Photoacoustic pigment clearing with Alma ClearLift
We perform Dark Lips Laser Neutralization using the ClearLift by Alma laser, a non-ablative Q-switched Nd:YAG platform. It delivers ultra-short pulses that create a photoacoustic effect: tiny acoustic waves break melanin clusters into smaller particles without vaporizing the skin surface. A fractional tip can concentrate energy beneath the surface, dispersing excess pigment in the vermilion while keeping the outer layer intact. The body’s immune system then removes the fragmented pigment over time, so tone lightens gradually. Because ClearLift relies more on mechanical (acoustic) action than heat, it minimizes thermal stress and reduces the chance of unwanted color changes, which is why it is chosen for a wide range of skin tones. An added benefit is gentle collagen stimulation around the lips, which can subtly refine texture and the lip border.Contraindications
Before treatment, we will assess your lips, medical history, and current medications. Please let us know if any of the following apply to you:
- Active cold sore (herpes simplex) or recent outbreak on or around the lips
- Open wounds, infection, or severe chapped/cracked lips
- Recent isotretinoin use (within the last 6–12 months)
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Photosensitizing medications (e.g., certain antibiotics like doxycycline)
- Recent lip-blush tattooing (allow adequate healing, typically 8–12 weeks)
- Recent dermal filler in the lips (wait at least 2 weeks)
- History of keloids or hypertrophic scarring
- Uncontrolled medical conditions (e.g., poorly managed diabetes)
- Active inflammatory conditions of the lips (e.g., cheilitis) until resolved

Fewer visits, quick sessions, results that build and last
Most people need 3–6 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart for a clear change in tone; stubborn or long-standing pigment may require additional visits. A single appointment usually takes 10–20 minutes. Results appear gradually as the body clears fragmented pigment, with best improvement often seen a few weeks after the final session. Longevity varies by habits and triggers; avoiding smoking, strong sun exposure, and lip irritation helps results last. Before treatment: avoid active cold sores, pause photosensitizing drugs if advised by your prescriber, skip harsh scrubs/retinoids on the lips for 3–5 days, and limit sun exposure for a week. After treatment: expect mild dryness or temporary darkening; use a gentle, fragrance-free balm, avoid picking, hot/spicy foods, and very hot drinks for 24 hours, apply SPF lip balm daily, and limit sun/tanning for 1–2 weeks. Compared with peels or lip-blush tattooing, Alma ClearLift adds no pigment and leaves the surface intact, offering controlled targeting with minimal downtime. - Clear Skin Lips Laser RejuvinationAdd a collagen-stimulating lip laser in a separate session to smooth fine lines and improve lip texture. It supports a more even look of the new, lighter tone and enhances natural shine. Great once pigment has settled between laser visits.
- LED TherapyRed and near‑infrared LED calms the lips and speeds recovery after each session. It helps reduce redness and dryness, so flaking is shorter. This supports steadier, more predictable color changes.
- Pigmentation Barrier Skin BoosterA targeted booster around the lip border helps the skin barrier and supports balanced melanin activity. This lowers the risk of uneven re-darkening and keeps tone more stable over time. Added hydration also improves comfort.
- Exosomes for FaceExosomes deliver repair signals that calm inflammation and support even pigment formation. Used around the mouth, they help healing stay on track and make results last longer. Ideal between laser sessions.
- Needle-Free Mesotherapy for FaceNeedle-free infusion of hyaluronic acid and vitamins hydrates the lip area without punctures. Well-hydrated lips recover better and look smoother after neutralization. It’s a quick add‑on a few days before or after laser.
