LED Therapy uses gentle light to help skin heal, calm breakouts, and boost glow. At Evolution Aesthetics we use the HELEO4 system, including the Heleo4 Cell Detox LED Treatment, Heleo4 Cell Detox NEW LED Treatment, and a focused Back option for body concerns. Red, blue, and near-infrared light work at different depths to improve acne, redness, texture, and recovery after other treatments. Sessions are comfortable, with no needles and no downtime. It suits all skin tones and can be used year-round, even on sensitive skin. If you want clearer, calmer, more even skin with a simple routine, LED is a strong choice.
How it works
Targeted light energises cells and calms inflammation
LED Therapy uses photobiomodulation—specific light wavelengths that trigger useful changes in skin cells without ablating or heating tissue. Blue light (around 415 nm) excites porphyrins inside Cutibacterium acnes, creating reactive species that reduce acne bacteria on the skin. Red light (around 630–660 nm) and near‑infrared light (around 810–850 nm) are absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores such as cytochrome c oxidase. This supports ATP production, which in turn helps cellular repair, modulates inflammation, and encourages fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. The HELEO4 system delivers stable, high-output LED energy across a broad panel, allowing even coverage on the face or body. Our Heleo4 Cell Detox LED protocols cycle wavelengths and precise pulse patterns to support microcirculation and lymphatic flow, which can help reduce puffiness and post-procedure downtime. We tailor the program—blue for active breakouts, red for redness and recovery, and near‑infrared for deeper repair—so the light matches your skin’s current needs.

Treatment plan
Short sessions, clear plan, lasting improvement
Most people see best results with a short course and simple maintenance. For acne or redness, plan 2–3 sessions per week for 4–6 weeks (about 8–12 sessions), then maintain every 2–4 weeks. For texture and collagen support, aim for 1–2 sessions per week for 6–10 sessions, then monthly maintenance. The Heleo4 Cell Detox LED Treatment usually takes 20–30 minutes for the face; the Back option may take 30–40 minutes. Before your visit: come with clean skin, remove makeup and heavy skincare, pause strong acids/retinoids for 24 hours if your skin is reactive, and avoid tanning beds. If you use photosensitising products or medicines, ask us for guidance first. After your session: you can return to normal activities, apply SPF 30+, hydrate well, and avoid intense heat (sauna, hot yoga) and vigorous workouts for a few hours. Skip strong actives (AHAs, BHAs, retinoids) for 24 hours if your skin is easily irritated. LED pairs well with many treatments—such as microneedling, peels, and radiofrequency—to support healing; we will time sessions on the same day or within 1–3 days based on your plan. LED is gentle, but some conditions mean it is not the right choice right now. Please tell your practitioner about your medical history and current medicines.
- Photosensitivity disorders (e.g., lupus, porphyria) or history of light-triggered rashes.
- Use of photosensitising medicines or supplements (e.g., certain antibiotics like tetracyclines, isotretinoin, St John’s Wort) unless cleared by your clinician.
- Active skin infection, open wounds, or cold sores on the treatment area.
- Epilepsy triggered by flashing or bright lights.
- Active cancer or ongoing chemotherapy/radiotherapy without written medical clearance.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding—clinic policy may advise postponing unless approved by your clinician.
- Recent injectables in the area (wait 48–72 hours after fillers or neuromodulators unless advised otherwise).
