Fine lines and shallow acne scars can leave a surface that skincare alone does not smooth. iPixel uses an Erbium:YAG laser to remove tiny columns of skin, leaving skin between them to support healing.
As the treated surface heals and remodels, selected lines and scars can become less noticeable. This is a resurfacing treatment with a real healing period.

Plan for healing, not just the appointment
Numbing helps with comfort before treatment, and suitable eye protection stays in place. Heat or discomfort may still be felt during the laser passes.
Afterwards, skin can be red, swollen, tender and crusted. You will need gentle wound care and sun protection. Makeup and swimming wait until the surface has closed and your doctor confirms it is ready. Redness can outlast surface healing, so allow recovery time before social plans.

iPixel resurfacing questions
Which acne scars can iPixel improve?
Selected depressed acne scars may become less noticeable as the surface remodels. Narrow, deep scars and scars held down by tissue beneath the skin may need other approaches as well. Active acne should be controlled before scar treatment so new scars are not forming during recovery.
How is iPixel different from ClearLift?
iPixel is a fractional ablative Erbium:YAG laser: it removes tiny columns of skin and requires wound care. ClearLift is a different laser used without resurfacing the skin surface. Their goals overlap in some fine-line concerns, but the treatment experience and recovery differ.
How long does recovery take?
The surface needs to heal before makeup or swimming resumes, and redness may continue afterwards. Treatment intensity, the area and your skin affect the length of each stage. Plan time for daily wound care as well as the appointment.
Can darker skin have Erbium resurfacing?
Darker skin and skin that develops dark marks after irritation have a greater concern for pigment changes. A recent tan adds to that concern. Suitability depends on the skin’s pigment history and healing, not just the scar type.
Can iPixel treat around the eyes?
Eye-area fractional resurfacing is available. The thinner skin and nearby eyes need suitable treatment selection and eye protection. Mention the eye area when discussing your concern.
Will one treatment remove my scars?
More than one visit may help a texture or scar concern. Scar depth, shape and the healing response affect the amount of improvement. Different scar types may also need different methods; complete removal is not the expected outcome.

What fractional means
The iPixel Erbium:YAG laser uses a 2940 nm wavelength and treats a pattern of tiny columns rather than removing the whole surface at once. Skin between the treated columns supports recovery. The tiny treated areas need wound care while the surface closes.
Match the method to the scar
Acne scars are not all alike. Shallow depressions, narrow deep pits and scars tethered to deeper tissue need different assessment. Resurfacing can improve selected surface and depressed-scar concerns, but it does not automatically release a deeper attachment. A plan may involve more than one method without treating them all at the same visit.
Fine lines and texture
Skin renewal may soften selected fine lines and make uneven texture less noticeable. It will not replace lost facial volume or remove every deep fold. If your main concern is a mild fine line and you need to avoid surface wound care, ClearLift is a different option to discuss.
When to judge improvement
Early swelling can temporarily make skin look smoother. The surface first needs to heal; remodelling continues beyond that initial stage. Review uses the healed appearance and comparable photographs, rather than the immediate post-treatment look. Before-and-after examples that include Dye-VL or ClearLift show combined treatment, so they should not be read as iPixel-only results.
What affects the treatment plan?
Skin tone, scar pattern, recent sun exposure and previous healing problems all matter. So do the area and the time you can give to aftercare. Treatment intensity is balanced with the time the skin needs to heal. Your aftercare plan covers cleansing, moisture and protection while the surface recovers.
Safety and aftercare
Before treatment
Bring your medicine and skincare list, including supplements. Tell us about pregnancy, cold sores, skin infection, open wounds, unusual scarring, healing problems and recent treatments. Include the dates and areas of injections, peels or other energy treatments. A recent tan or sunburn can affect treatment timing. Do not stop prescribed medicine without your prescriber’s advice. Tell us about previous pigment reactions and keloid scars. A history of cold sores may need preventive treatment before resurfacing.
Side effects and risks
Redness, swelling, tenderness and crusting can occur during healing. Possible complications include infection, prolonged redness, darker or lighter patches and scarring.
Aftercare
Follow the wound-care plan for gentle cleansing and the recommended bland moisturiser or protective ointment. Do not pick crusts or scrub healing skin. Avoid swimming and makeup until the skin has closed and your doctor clears them. Protect the area from sun. Restart active skincare, heat exposure and exercise according to the healing plan.
When to get help
Contact us promptly for severe or worsening pain, blisters, spreading redness, discharge, fever, cold sores or persistent unexpected skin-colour changes. Seek urgent medical assessment for eye pain or new visual symptoms.
