Beard
Micopigmentation
Beard micropigmentation (also called beard SMP) is a non-surgical way to make patchy or thin facial hair look fuller. We place tiny pigment dots that look like natural stubble and blend with your hair colour and skin tone. It works well for gaps, uneven edges, and scars, and can sharpen the beard line. Sessions are quick, with little downtime, and results are visible right away. Colour is built in layers over 2–3 visits for a soft, realistic finish. At Evolution Aesthetics Clinic, your plan is matched to your beard style and daily routine.
Natural-looking stubble, quick sessions, predictable results
Immediate, natural-looking density
Micro-dots replicate beard follicles, so you see fuller coverage as soon as the session ends.
Precise beard lines and targeted fill
We map your face and hair direction to design sharp edges and add density only where needed.
Results that last and fade gradually
Medical-grade pigments hold colour for years and soften slowly, making future tweaks straightforward.
Non-surgical with minimal downtime
No incisions or grafts; most people return to routine the same day.
Efficient appointments
Most sessions take 1–3 hours depending on the size of the area and detail required.
Low discomfort
Topical numbing and shallow placement help keep discomfort low for most clients.
How it works: tiny pigments mimic follicles for a fuller beard
Beard micropigmentation uses a digital device with sterile, single-use micro-needles to place small deposits of medical‑grade pigment into the upper dermis. Each deposit is a controlled dot sized and spaced to match nearby hair follicles, creating the look of real stubble and soft shadow. The practitioner custom-mixes pigment to your skin undertone and beard colour, then layers density over 2–3 sessions for depth and realism. Angles and spacing are adjusted to follow your natural growth pattern, and different needle configurations create line work for edges and dot patterns for bulk density. Unlike traditional tattoos, the depth is shallower and the pigment formula is designed to hold a consistent shade and minimise spread, helping the result stay crisp. This method also works to break up light-catching lines in scars, making them less noticeable within the beard.Contraindications
This treatment is not suitable in certain situations. If any of the following apply to you, speak to a clinician before booking.
- Active skin infection, dermatitis, psoriasis flare, or cystic acne in the beard area
- History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
- Bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners (unless cleared by your doctor)
- Uncontrolled diabetes or immune conditions that affect healing
- Known allergy to pigments, inks, or topical anaesthetics
- Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last 6–12 months
- Recent sunburn or recent aggressive exfoliation/peels on the area
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active cold sores or folliculitis in the treatment zone
- Current chemotherapy or radiation therapy
Treatment plan: staged layering for lasting, low‑maintenance results
Most people need 2–3 sessions to reach a full, even look, spaced 10–21 days apart to allow the skin to settle. A typical appointment lasts 1–3 hours depending on the size of the area, the level of detail, and whether we are camouflaging scars. Results usually hold well for 2–4 years; a light retouch every 12–24 months can keep tone and edges fresh. Before your session: avoid sunburn, retinol/acid exfoliants, and alcohol for 24–48 hours; limit aspirin/ibuprofen and other blood thinners if your doctor agrees; arrive with the beard trimmed to your usual short length so we can match the stubble look. After your session: expect mild redness for up to 24–48 hours; keep the area clean and dry for the first 3 days; avoid heavy sweating, swimming, steam rooms, and shaving for 4–5 days; do not pick or scrub; use gentle cleanser and light moisturiser; limit strong sun exposure for 2 weeks and use SPF once the skin has settled. Note: if you keep your beard very short (0–1 mm), micropigmentation matches this best; for longer beards, it can reduce skin show‑through but does not create actual hair. What goes well with Beard Micopigmentation?
- Specialist Dermatologist Consultation with 3D Skin TestGet a clear plan before pigmenting. The 3D scan shows oiliness, pore size, and sensitivity, helping choose the right pigment tone, dot size, and density for your beard pattern. It also flags acne or dermatitis to calm first, so results look natural and last longer.
- Hydrafacial for Face or BackDeep-clean the beard area to remove oil and dead skin that can block pigment. A smoother canvas helps dots heal evenly and edges look crisp. Book it 5–7 days before micropigmentation and wait 10–14 days after before your next cleanse.
- Carbon Laser Peeling of Face or BackFor very oily or textured skin, a carbon peel decongests pores and reduces shine. This improves pigment grip and lowers the chance of ingrowns. Schedule 1–2 weeks before micropigmentation, and avoid lasers on the pigmented area for 6–8 weeks after.
- LED TherapyRed/blue LED calms redness and supports recovery after beard micropigmentation. Sessions in the first week can reduce downtime and keep the skin balanced, helping preserve pigment clarity.
- Exosomes for FaceTopical exosomes support barrier repair and reduce post-procedure irritation. Better healing in the first week means steadier color and smoother texture around the beard line. Ideal 2–7 days after the session or between touch-ups.
