Different tattoo colours absorb laser light differently. A device that works on one part of a design may not clear every colour, and cosmetic pigments can behave in unexpected ways.
Colour affects wavelength choice
Our Harmony XL PRO platform uses Q-switched laser technology. The manufacturer describes 1064 nm and 532 nm options. Those numbers describe light wavelengths, not a guarantee that every ink can be removed.
We assess the colours and your skin before choosing the plan. A photograph can help an initial enquiry, but it does not replace examining the area and discussing its history.
Dark ink and light ink do not behave alike
Black and dark-blue pigments are generally easier to target than some brighter colours. White, flesh-coloured and permanent-makeup pigments require particular caution because laser treatment can darken them. The FDA explains these removal difficulties.
This is one reason not to add a skin-coloured camouflage tattoo merely to hide an unwanted design without considering future removal. Covering the colour does not mean the original pigment is gone.
Why permanent makeup needs its own discussion
Eyebrow and other cosmetic tattoos may contain mixed or unfamiliar pigments. They also involve different anatomy from a tattoo on a limb. We keep permanent-makeup removal separate from the general body-tattoo service so that these questions receive a specific assessment.
Do not assume that an eyebrow service includes treatment of eyeliner or every tattoo near the eye. We explain what is appropriate for the actual area before consent.
What if a colour stays visible?
At review, we assess which part of the design has faded and what risk further treatment would add. Complete removal may not be possible. A realistic plan includes the option of stopping rather than treating repeatedly without a useful expected benefit.
Bring any information you have about the ink, previous cover-ups and earlier removal sessions.
