Soprano preparation, side effects and aftercare

Good preparation starts before your Soprano appointment. Tell us about recent sun exposure, medicines and previous skin reactions so that we can decide whether to treat, adjust the plan or wait.

What we need to know

Bring a current medicine and skincare list, including acne treatments and products you buy without a prescription. Tell us about cold sores, keloid scars, light-triggered seizures, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Also identify tattoos and permanent makeup near the planned area.

Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own. We review the medicine and the treatment together. Recent waxing or plucking also matters, because removing the hair from the root affects the preparation for laser reduction. We give you the instructions for your selected area and appointment date.

Expected reactions and signs to report

Temporary redness, swelling around follicles and discomfort can follow laser hair removal. More significant reactions include blistering, infection, pigment changes and scarring. A cooled handpiece can improve comfort but does not make the treatment risk-free. AAD lists these possible reactions.

Contact us promptly if the skin blisters, pain increases, redness spreads or the area looks infected. Do not assume that a strong reaction means the treatment is working better. Tell us when the change started and how it has developed; we will arrange the appropriate review.

Keep recovery simple

Follow the written instructions we give you. Avoid tanning and protect the area from direct sun. Do not add a scrub, peel or strong active product just because the skin feels rough. Check with us before returning to heat-based treatments or other treatment of the same area.

Your next appointment is also a chance to report delayed colour changes or irritation. Tell us before treatment starts, even if the reaction has now settled. We can use that information when reviewing settings and spacing.

What if I have a tan before my visit?

Contact us before you arrive. A booking made weeks earlier is not a safety assessment of your skin today. We may need to postpone rather than carry out the original plan.
