Radiesse can produce an early filling effect, while later changes develop as the tissue responds. A before-and-after photograph is most useful when it shows a settled result under comparable conditions, with the treatment and review dates made clear.
Immediate fullness is not the complete result
The carrier gel can give support at treatment, and injection-related swelling can add to that appearance. A photograph taken on the day does not separate those effects. We use follow-up to assess what has settled and whether the result matches the goal agreed before treatment.
Avoid judging the treatment from one close-up taken at a different angle. A changed expression or brighter light can alter a shadow near the mouth or jaw. Look for the same area, similar posture and a neutral expression. Photographs help document change but cannot measure collagen directly.
What the evidence actually studied
A randomized study examined a lidocaine-containing calcium hydroxylapatite product for jawline contour in selected adults. Its findings apply to that formulation, area and study protocol. They do not establish a result for every Radiesse treatment, or justify choosing a technique yourself. Read the jawline study.
Your doctor explains the exact product and approach proposed for you. A generic service label is not a reason to assume a particular formulation, dilution or treatment area. We do not use a study's photographs as a prediction of your result.
How long will the change last?
Duration is individual. The treated area, starting anatomy, product and response affect how long a visible improvement remains. We discuss the expected review process before treatment and reassess as the result changes. The aim is not to repeat treatment on a fixed calendar regardless of need.
Radiesse is different from a hyaluronic acid filler. If reversibility is a major priority, raise it before consent; it is not a product that can simply be dissolved using hyaluronidase. Manufacturer FAQ.
What should I look for at review?
Return to your original goal. Was it a particular loss of support, line or contour? Discuss the change in that area, how it feels and whether any unwanted effect has appeared. The doctor's assessment and your experience matter more than trying to match another person's photograph.
Do not add product merely because the initial swelling has reduced. Do not assume a persistent lump is part of a normal collagen response. Tell us about it so we can assess the cause and appropriate next step.
