Why facial lifting needs a layered approach

Changes in the face develop at different levels. The dermis provides much of the skin’s strength and elasticity. Beneath it, fat compartments and connective tissue contribute to volume and shape. Deeper supporting structures, including the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, or SMAS, help organise the tissues above them.

Volformer gives the clinician two complementary ways to build that treatment plan: focused ultrasound at selected depths and broader RF heating for dermal firmness.

Ultraformer MPT: depth-specific treatment for facial support

Ultraformer MPT concentrates ultrasound energy at a selected focal depth. Its standard facial cartridges are available at 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.5 mm. CLASSYS device specifications

The following is an anatomical guide, rather than a fixed map of every face:

Ultra Booster cartridges

Ultraformer MPT also offers 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm Booster cartridges. These use a circular delivery pattern; standard F-type cartridges deliver a linear pattern. The nominal depths remain the same, while the delivery format adds another planning option.

What about 6, 9 and 13 mm?

The platform’s 6.0, 9.0 and 13.0 mm cartridges are listed for body treatment. They address deeper targets in suitable body tissue and should not be presented as additional routine facial layers. Volnewmer: RF treatment across the dermis

Volnewmer uses 6.78 MHz monopolar RF to generate heat within tissue. CLASSYS describes its dermal targets as the papillary and reticular layers—the upper and deeper portions of the dermis. Continuous water cooling helps protect the skin surface during treatment.

These measurements describe surface area, not penetration depth. Volnewmer tips are not fixed-depth ultrasound cartridges. The practical value of Volformer is the ability to make separate decisions about ultrasound depth and RF coverage.

Multiple treatment depths are useful, but they describe only one part of a device’s capabilities.

Volformer combines RF with focused ultrasound. For someone whose assessment supports both methods, this offers an additional dimension of customisation: the clinician can choose how energy is delivered as well as where it is targeted.

That is the rationale for considering Volformer when the treatment brief includes both dermal firmness and selected deeper tissue targets. The combination is an option to personalise care; it does not establish a better result for every patient.

Volformer is a non-surgical treatment, and individual results vary. Your consultation also covers expected recovery and potential risks, including temporary redness, swelling and tenderness, as well as less common thermal injury, altered sensation or unwanted volume changes.

When we defer or change the plan

Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; we defer elective treatment. An implanted pacemaker, defibrillator or other electronic device can make RF unsuitable. We also review metal implants, dental work, fillers, threads, previous surgery and recent skin treatments. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own.

We postpone treatment over infection, open wounds or inflamed skin. Reduced skin sensation, poor healing, blood-thinning medicines and other health conditions can change the decision. We assess your skin and facial volume before selecting any ultrasound target.

Possible side effects

Temporary discomfort, redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising can occur. Heat-based treatment can also cause burns, blisters, pigment changes and scarring. Focused ultrasound can cause altered sensation or nerve symptoms and unwanted changes in fat volume. Appropriate planning reduces avoidable risk but cannot make treatment risk-free.

After your session

Follow our written instructions for skin care, sun protection and return to exercise or further treatments. Contact us promptly for increasing pain, blistering, a burn, persistent numbness, facial weakness or an unexpected contour change. Seek urgent assessment for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.
