Early bumps after Profhilo injections are not the final skin-quality result. Review the intended change after the initial reaction settles, and report a persistent, painful or changing lump rather than assuming it is normal.
What can you see immediately?
An injection places product in tissue and can cause a local reaction. Small raised areas, redness, swelling or bruising may be visible. Their appearance does not show how much longer-term benefit you will get.
Do not squeeze or massage an injection site to flatten it unless your treating clinician has specifically advised you to do so. Tell the clinic if a bump is painful, enlarges or does not follow the recovery course you were given.
What is the treatment trying to improve?
Profhilo is considered for selected skin-quality concerns, including hydration and mild laxity. It should not be judged as though it were a targeted filler used to create lip shape or cheek projection.
Before treatment, we agree what you want to change and what improvement is realistic. A broad wish to “lift everything” needs a different discussion from a concern about dry-looking, less elastic skin.
When is a photograph useful?
Use photographs after the immediate injection reaction has settled and at the review arranged by your doctor. Keep lighting, expression and camera distance similar. Swelling, makeup or a changed angle can make a treatment look more dramatic than it is.
The early Profhilo clinical evaluation assessed skin over several weeks. Its open-label design does not guarantee the same response for every patient or prove superiority to other products.
What if I see little change?
We reassess the original goal, skin condition and whether the treatment addresses the main cause of the concern. More injections are not automatically useful. Lost structural volume or substantial loose skin may need a different option, or a decision to avoid further treatment.
A good review includes your own assessment of whether the improvement matters to you. You do not need to repeat a course simply because a standard package exists.
Which changes need prompt advice?

How long should results last?
There is no fixed duration for every person. Skin changes continue with time, and treatment response varies. We discuss maintenance only after reviewing the benefit and the reason for repeating treatment.
