What does the word exosome mean?
Exosomes are tiny membrane-bound particles involved in communication between cells. That biological role is the reason for research interest. It is not proof that every skin product containing an exosome-labelled ingredient has the same composition, effect or safety profile.
A complete treatment description needs the product, method and intended goal. At Evolution Clinic, we explain those details before consent. The facial ASCE+ service is not a stem-cell transplant, and we do not describe it as a treatment that replaces damaged cells or reverses ageing.
What has a clinical study shown?
A randomized split-face trial enrolled 28 participants and compared an exosome-containing solution plus microneedling with saline plus microneedling. Some measured skin outcomes improved more on the exosome-treated side during the short follow-up. That is useful early evidence for the studied combination. Read the primary study.
It does not prove a standalone serum effect, a predictable result for every current formulation or the safety of an injection route. A small study reporting no serious event also cannot establish the long-term safety of all exosome products.
Which questions remain open?
How long a benefit lasts, which skin concerns respond best and how results differ between formulations need stronger evidence. People receiving a combined treatment may also respond to the accompanying treatment. It is difficult to assign all improvement to one ingredient.
For this reason, we do not promise a fixed course, collagen percentage or duration. We agree a specific goal and review the response rather than use a study schedule as a prescription for everyone.
What can a consultation establish?
We examine the skin and discuss your concern, previous treatments, medicines and allergies. We explain whether an ASCE+ plan is suitable, what it is intended to do and what other options could fit. Active infection, inflammation or a changing lesion may need a different medical assessment first.
If a combined treatment is proposed, each part must have a clear purpose and its own risk discussion. A product used on the skin should not automatically be assumed suitable for injection or device-assisted delivery. We do not advise home microneedling with a serum.
How should results be reviewed?
Use the same concern and similar photographs at baseline and review. Report irritation, persistent redness, unexpected swelling or other unwanted changes as well as any improvement. A satisfactory result includes tolerable recovery and an appropriate benefit for you, not just a brighter photograph.
