Shiatsu
Massage

Shiatsu massage uses controlled finger, palm and thumb pressure with selected assisted movements. It can suit people who want a structured massage for general tension, stiffness or relaxation without oil-based flowing techniques. Before treatment, the therapist asks about painful or sensitive areas, current health conditions and the level of pressure you prefer. The session can include work across the back, shoulders, arms and legs, but the exact sequence is adapted to you. Pressure should stay tolerable and does not need to be painful to be effective as a relaxation treatment. Shiatsu does not diagnose or cure disease. Severe or unexplained pain, recent injury, fever, infection, pregnancy complications or a possible blood clot require medical advice before massage. Sessions are available for 60 or 90 minutes.

When treatment can be unsuitable

A clinician will review your health history, medicines, allergies, and treatment goals before treatment.
  • Active infection, open skin, or uncontrolled inflammation in the treatment area
  • A known allergy to a planned medicine, product, or material
  • A health condition or medicine that requires the treating clinician to change or postpone the plan
